Dear all I'm sincerely sorry for my sudden departure in February. I was overcome by a combination of health issues, financial troubles and family problems. I've not been here, or played much of anything since then. I never thought that it would cause you so many problems with the league, and I can't apologise enough to those who struggled on (Feverish!) in the face of my exit. I would gladly suck you all off, or hire a buxom helady to do it for me, by way of a heart felt apology. However, a recent upturn in fortune has seen most of the difficulties sorted and whilst time is not as free as it once was (I currently struggle to stay up longer than 10pm, which is fucking shite), I thought I'd post and see how is still around now that a new edition has been released. I have it, but I've not looked at it. So, whose still here?

Hey there, my friend. Nice to hear that things are looking up again.
There wasn't much in the way of struggling, in retrospect. Mostly the fact that nobody knew in advance that running a league without its creator (the "president", I think that's the in-game title) is nigh on impossible.
We're about to finish season VI with the old client, and will start the sign up process for Season VII in a few days. LE is a way better implementation of the game and we can go nuts with mixed team sub-leagues, custom star players (keywords: team editor + marketplace) and whatnot.

Still here. Still same old cunt running the same old team. Still unable to win fuck all. Haven't gotten the new edition yet, but we all know I'll break down and buy it 'cause I have the willpower of a particularly weak-willed snotling.

Welcome back, good to hear of the up turn in fortunes. Seen as few old names visiting the forum in the last few days since LE is out. Still seems as though the Nipples of Chaos have dried up....

Boon, good to hear you're back on upslope. Still around and might be up again, took some well deserved R&R from blood bowl for a few seasons.

well.........what low down fucking cunt, fucking off, deserting all his Fun Legaue mates, before the end of the season and then sneaking back , like a cum soaked, two penny whore as soon as a new shiny game appears....but that's enough about me. Welcome back your Booness. The new game looks like it should have first time round maybe, with enough variation to intrigue a jaded old wanker ike me. I'm getting me gobs out! Lets Nipple up and test the new game

Brings a tear to my bellend.
So I take it FL is embracing all of the new rules with it's usual disregard for the BB fundamentalists? Or do the options still need house rules? I can imagine mixed race teams can get out of hand.
AI teams and a selection of flawed star players would be amaztits.

Mixed teams are unplayable imho...it's a min-max dreamworld for those looking for such, like Jhonny Football, but otherwise it breaks the mold of BB...can't say if it's too much but for me it didn't shtick.
Tits are fine with the amazons.
I wish we could re-create Supersnot Snap (snottling with 6Ma 4Ag, sprint and surefeet) from old league. He's a snotling so what other flaw would you need.

Mixed teams are broken beyond redemption, but there's no reason not to use them in their own separate division IMO. No point in playing in the same competitions as regular teams, obviously.
I'm willing to run such a sub-league, so there's no harm in giving folks the option to join both with regular and mixed teams in the (upcoming) sign up thread.
Recreating that Supersnot Snap chap is a cinch with the new team editor. We can pitch all kinds of ideas in the Cuntopolis threads before the new season starts.

Useless bastards.
Even if moderated "in house"?
I really wanted a human-halfling hookup. Once more my dreams are stolen from me as one would steal a virgin's bloody innocence.

We can always introduce restrictions on the kinds of teams we want to see, of course. That said, pretty much *all* the mixed combos on offer are broken in their own unique ways. It's a wash, basically.
Since they're really expensive right out of the gate, I imagine the first season with these things will be a rather wacky affair more than anything else.
An easy way to make sure things are interesting would be to introduce a number or racial restrictions. For instance, the so-called "Alliance of Goodness" includes Dorfs, Wood Elves, Humans, Flings and Bretonnians. The combination of Dorfs and Woodies is utter wank, but otherwise the roster is not entirely unreasonable. In a similar vein, the "Violence Together" roster allows to combine Lizardmen and Orcs. Whether one sees that as adding faster Black Orcs to the standard greenskin roster or as something that allows Lizardmen to nullify their only disadvantage (their initial lack of skills), I can bear witness to the fact that it's pain in the arse.

I was always a lover of mixed race teams, but they needed to be thought through. Clearly that hasn't happened.
I'm going to have a look at it tonight. It would be shame to not find a way to use it but it looks like it needs closely controlled, which is a hassle.
Don't see why they couldn't just bring back the 2nd ed dislike/animosity skills and make them relevant to at least offset the obvious min/max flaws.
Perhaps introduce a mandatory limit of 3 different racial slots on a roster, and then limit the choice still further based on lore/fluff (i.e. elves and dwarfs isn't going to happen; high elves can't share any; dark elves will only play with rats) or positions?
Big guys and specialists would need to be capped at 1?
It would take a bit of thought. I may have my digital copy of the old compendium somewhere, I wonder if that could help.
Then, because this is Fun League, if you want a mixed team you need to post up a proposed roster and provide a fluff reason for being allowed it!
I need to look and see if I'm vomiting garbage.
I dunno. Still if the trading system really does let us create fun stars, then we can recreate some past heroes!
Will you be looking at topping up with AI teams for a laugh? Can they be created from scratch to be full of amusing super players? You could recreate Da Reservzz!

Since most of the sources of wankiness are readily apparent, I would just look at each of the mixed team "superrosters" (that's some fancy coinage fer ya) and create a list of the things that can't be done with each. No Dorfs and Elves on the "Alliance of Goodness" thingie, no Chorfs combined with gutter runners on a "Far East Association" team, running with four tomb guardians and two mummies with "Afterlife United" is a non-starter, and so on.
That and a cap on positionals* and big guys should do the trick, I think.
Then again, if one's going to use a mixed team for something fluffy and reasonable I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed in the main league (the one with regular teams). I don't think we'd hear a chorus of protest if, say, you were to recreate the Cellblock All-Stars with the team editor as a mixed team, with all the old players** and a couple of halflings thrown into the mix.
*: Defined on a team-by-team basis. Taking the "Alliance of Goodness" again as an example, all Dorf players should be regarded as positionals.
**: including the injuries. The team editor is really quite neat.
EDIT: I've been mucking around a bit with the AI teams. As far as I can tell, the game simply adds a random team to an empty slot when you ask to get it filled with an AI team. You can choose the race, and the TV seems to be commensurate with the average TV of the other teams in the same competition. To the naked eye, the teams appear to be perfectly random, judging from the distribution of skills and stat increases. Not ideal, but one can always slot in different AI teams until the game generates one that strikes one as amusing.

How's it going wanksplats?
Having played a few seasons in FL with BB1, I just purchased BB2 with the new release. First impressions are that its just as glitchy as BB1 but the online community seems even worse than I remember. Does that seem accurate or am I just getting crotchety in my old age?
How's fun league doing anyhow? I need to see whether I can learn to tolerate playing BB2 without going crazy and also find time to play, but if I manage that I may be looking to sign up to a league again or possibly just twirl some nipples.

Oh gosh, Penkoon. Welcome back, sir. BB2 is a better game than BB1, I think. I certainly find it more immersive. The community is what it's always been. The whingeing about the dice and the anally retentive approach to the rules certainly haven't changed. We still regard BB as a "beer and pretzels, and porn" game here at the FL. We've suffered a fair bit of player attrition in the last few months but it seems things will get fairly active with Legendary.
